Do you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s upcoming visit? Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we are asked about children’s dental care. If you don’t see the information you are looking for below, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We are always happy to provide you with additional information that you may need!
The cost of a dental cleaning and checkup can vary on geography and other factors, including your child’s dental health. A checkup and cleaning should begin with a patient health history and a discussion of any concerns. It should also include a thorough exam completed by the pediatric dentist, a professional cleaning, X-rays, and checking for any abnormalities. The average in markets throughout the United States is between $200 and $350. If you have dental insurance, the cost is negotiated by the insurance company and pediatric dentist.
If your child’s emergency is life-threatening, you should drop everything and call 911! However, if this issue is not life-threatening, we can help! The first step is to give us a call. This way, one of our friendly team members can provide you with further instructions. We will always do our best to see your child as soon as possible. Dental emergencies often indicate underlying issues, so it’s a good idea to get your child on track for routine cleanings and checkups if they aren’t already. This way, we can catch issues before they turn into an emergency.
The best way to make your child’s dental care more affordable is prevention. This means maintaining an excellent dental hygiene routine at home and attending regular cleaning and checkups. Dental insurance is a great way to make these visits more affordable. However, if dental insurance isn’t an option for you, you might benefit from our Dental Membership Plan. For just $20 a month for children 3-12 and $25 a month for teens 13-18, your kids can get all of their checkups, cleanings, and X-rays, as well as a discount on necessary treatments at our practice. We are also happy to accept payments through CareCredit – a third-party financing company that can split the cost of your treatment into manageable monthly installments with little to no interest.
All dentists in the United States must have received either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree from one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the United States. To get accepted into dental school, one requires a bachelor’s degree. Dental school takes three years with a combination of classroom and hands-on learning. Dentists can continue their education by earning 1 of 12 specializations recognized by the American Dental Association, including Pediatric Dentistry. These require an additional three or more years of training. To keep their license, dentists must complete a certain number of continuing education hours a year.
