Before you have a chance to meet him, you can start getting to know Dr. Persaud below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Persaud was drawn to dentistry because he truly loved the idea that it combines a bit of being an engineer to figure out the best treatment plan, an artist to create beautiful smiles, and lastly, a doctor to help patients in need. He decided to focus on pediatric dentistry because he wanted to have the opportunity to build trust with children and families, fostering a lifetime of positive dental experiences that would serve his growing patients well into adulthood.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Persaud earned his DDS from the Howard University College of Dentistry, and he went on to complete a General Practice Residency at the Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. There, he gained valuable real-world experience performing a wide range of dental procedures in a hospital setting treating medically complex and immunocompromised patients.
He then did a two-year specialty residency in pediatric dentistry at Staten Island University Hospital. This rigorous training program focused on comprehensive care for infants, children, adolescents, and individuals with special healthcare needs— emphasizing both preventive strategies and restorative treatments.
Always learning and working to improve himself, he is currently an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Persaud is originally from Guyana, a small English-speaking country in South America. He comes from a warm and supportive family consisting of his parents, two sisters, and a pet African Grey parrot—he says their home is always filled with laughter, resilience, and unwavering support for one another.
When he isn’t working, Dr. Persaud loves exploring new places, discovering unique restaurants, and staying active through different types of workouts. He believes that travel, food, and fitness keep life both exciting and balanced.
